Daughters of Nantucket by Julie Gerstenblatt 3/5

Set in 1846 Nantucket, three women deal with family, money, racial inequality, and a devastating fire. Eliza is a whaling captains wife whose husband is away for years at a time while she cares for her daughters on her own. Meg is a pregnant black woman fighting for a storefront on Main Street and for her daughter to stay in an integrated school. And Maria is an astronomer with a secret love.

This is not a book that I would pick up on my own but it was pretty interesting. 3/5
