Emma Blair’s parents own a bookstore in Acton, MA. She meets Jesse Lerner in high school and they move to California after graduation to get away from their small town. They travel the world and get married. Just before their first anniversary Jesse travels to Alaska for work. His helicopter goes down and he’s presumed dead. Emma moves home for some comfort, eventually takes over the bookstore that she loathed and runs into an old friend Sam (also from high school). She finally feels like she can be happy again when Jesse calls her and says he’s alive and coming home. Her whole world is turned upside down as she figures out what to do next. 5/5

I watched the movie after I finished the book and it was nowhere near as good as the book. The only positive in the movie was Simu Liu who can do no wrong.
