Summer Love switches back and forth between “That Summer” and “This Summer” with 25 years in between.
“That Summer”: 4 young adults Ariel, Wyatt, Nick, and Sheila all rent small rooms in an old hotel basement that’s under construction in Nantucket. Ariel wants to be a writer, Wyatt is trying to live up to his fathers scientific legacy, Sheila is a good Catholic girl who has a boyfriend waiting for her back home, and Nick is a charmer who dreams of being wildly successful in any way possible. They spend the summer trying to find their life’s calling while forging friendships that will last a lifetime.
“This Summer”: Ariel, Wyatt, Sheila, and Nick reunite at the same hotel they stayed in 25 years ago. It’s now renovated, called The Lighthouse and it’s owned by Nick. They also bring their spouses and children with them.
I always love reading about Nantucket and there were some cute moments with these friends but it was kind of flat for me. 3/5
