Since the movie is coming out this summer I wanted to re-read this book. Lily Bloom is a sophomore in high school when she meets a homeless boy named Atlas squatting in the empty house nearby. They develop a friendship and she tries to help him in any way she can . Many years later, Lily opens a flower shop in Boston and meets Ryle Kincaid, a neurosurgeon with a temper and childhood trauma of his own.

By far my favorite character in the book is Alyssa and I’m so excited to see Jenny Slate in this role. Her husband Marshall as a close second. Alyssa is Lily’s co-worker, fast best friend, and also Ryle’s sister.

I liked reading about breaking the generational trauma cycle but not a 5 coffee cup rating from me. 3.5/5
