Social Engagement by Avery Carpenter Forrey 1/5

The book starts out after a failed wedding and takes us back, leading up to the nuptials. Callie grew up in New Haven, CT and summered in Watch Hill, RI (hello, Swifties!). There, she had a summer friend named Virginia Murphy and Callie grew to think of the Murphys as a second family. She even had a thing for Virginia’s cousin, Ollie.

Callie’s dad was a dreamer who didn’t care to pay bills and left a book he wrote for Callie to finish after this death. She starts to see parallels between the relationships in his book and the relationships in their real lives so she wonders what is real and what is fiction?

I felt really awful about Callie’s bulimia and the toxic relationship she has with Ollie. There was zero resolution in the end so I can only give this book 1/5.

Give it a try if you want… but don’t say I didn’t warn you
