Nine Lives by Peter Swanson 4.5/5

Ok, so I NEEDED to read a good book after reading several flops in a row. Thankfully this book came along. It’s a remake of Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None.

It starts out with a cast of characters which was handy dandy –

Matthew Beaumont – a family man in MA

Jay Coates – a wannabe actor in LA

Ethan Dart- a singer/songwriter in Austin TX

Caroline Geddes- a professor in Michigan

Frank Hopkins-owns Windward Resort in ME

Alison Horne- living off a married man in NYC

Arthur Kruse-an oncology nurse in MA grieving his husband

Jake Radebaugh-a retired businessman, divorced

Jessica Winslow -an FBI agent in Albany NY

These 9 individuals get a paper in the mail with all 9 names on it. Ok, weird. But then, people on the list start dying. Jessica is an FBI agent so she helps get everyone else set up with police protection. Some are harder to find so they’re on their own.

Sam Hamilton is a detective on the case. He travels to Maine to check out the Windward Resort. He also visits some family members of the deceased. He wants to see if these people are connected somehow or if their connection is the list itself.

I read this book in 2 days. It was so good and the last 40% of the book was extra good bringing it all together.
