Ah nostalgia.
Peter Hatcher is a 9 year old boy living in NYC with his parents and obnoxious little brother. The little brother is Farley Drexel Hatcher, nicknamed “Fudge.” Don’t ask me why, I’m really not sure.
Peter is the best brother and the best son. He is smart, responsible, and respectful. Fudge, on the other hand, should take some lessons from “Pee-tah.” Basically, poor Peter just has to put up with Fudge’s antics. And at the end, you’ll feel for Peter and want to put Fudge up for adoption. SPOILER ALERT: Fudge eats Peter’s beloved turtle, Dribble. Again, don’t ask me why. Fudge is weird.
I loved re-reading this book from my childhood with my kids. Judy Blume was my favorite and being able to share her is a gift. We can’t wait to read the next one, Otherwise Known as Sheila the Great. 5/5
