I would recommend reading The One and Only Ivan first. And see the movie! I cried but I’m easy like that.

Bob is the comic relief from the first book – a lovable mutt always sneaking into Ivan’s enclosure.

The book starts off with Bob comparing dogs to humans, which is hysterical. Bob, Ivan (a silverback gorilla), and Ruby (a baby elephant) are best buds. One day Bob goes to the park with Julia and George to talk to Ivan and Ruby. A hurricane comes and all the enclosures are broken open. The animals are running loose and some are moved to a shelter including Bob.

Bob has been looking for his estranged sister (Boss) for years. When Boss gets put in the same cage as him in the shelter, he’s thrilled. Until the shelter starts flooding. They have to figure out how to save themselves and find Ivan and Ruby.

Coco loved that it was really funny and that friends can become family. She also liked that this book wasn’t as violent as the first book. 5/5
