Hannah married Owen Michaels over a year ago. She uprooted her life in New York and moved to a floating home in Sausalito, California. She moved in with Owen and his teenage daughter Bailey, who hates Hannah.
One day Owen disappears and leaves a note for Hannah simply saying, “Protect her.” At the same time, his company’s CEO is accused of embezzlement and fraud. It appears that Owen was involved since he wrote software that was dysfunctional. Hannah picks up Bailey from school and finds that Owen left a bag full of money in her locker. All signs point to something fishy and he’s obviously not coming back.
US Marshall Grady Bradford shows up at Hannah’s door, saying he wants to help Owen. Hannah and Bailey try to follow any clues that would help them find Owen. Safe to say he didn’t run just because his company was in trouble.
Hannah has given up an awful lot for Owen and Bailey. The whole book felt very far fetched. I think there’s a TV series so I’ll be watching that and hope its better than the book.
