Melody Brooks is a 10 year old who has cerebral palsy and is nonverbal. She’s in a wheelchair and has a talking board. One day she gets a machine called a MediTalker and she picks a voice to be hers. She is excited to move into an integrated classroom instead of H5 where she’s been since Kindergarten. Now she can show everyone what she’s really capable of.
My 10 year old loved it. She said it made her put her life in perspective and show more empathy. It was sad because she had so much to say and couldn’t truly speak. There are 2 other books in this series and we can’t wait to read them.
5/5
