The One book by John Marrs

A company called Match your DNA has discovered a gene that can match you to your perfect person. It could be an elderly person, a criminal, or one of the same sex. As long as your match has sent in their DNA, it’s a possibility. It has created a lot of harmony and contentment in relationships. But as you can imagine, it’s also created turmoil. It has ended marriages for people who weren’t truly matched and ruined a few lives along the way. This book shows the fallout.

Ok, there were SO many characters. Since I’m reviewing, I naturally take notes as I go. But if I wasn’t, I might’ve had to. Here we go:

-Mandy is matched with personal trainer Richard.

-Serial killer Richard is matched with police officer Amy.

-Jade is matched with Kevin who lives on the other side of the world. And we find out he’s terminally ill.

-Nick is engaged to Sally but matches with a man named Alex.

-Super successful businesswoman Ellie is matched with Tim.

All of these relationships go so wrong and it’s a *bit* far fetched. I loved the premise of the book because it felt new and different. There were some terrible characters. The author made Sally just awful, Richard’s family is unhinged, and Mandy was so weak and desperate.
