Blythe had a terrible childhood and her mother took off eventually. Begrudgingly, she has a baby with husband Fox. She never felt a bond with daughter Violet and in fact, was terrified of her. To be fair, the girl does seem off. But of course, she’s an angel for her father. So Blythe always looks like she’s overreacting.
When Blythe and Fox have another child, a son named Sam, Blythe is in love. She finally feels what other mothers talk about. After a tragic accident, her life is never the same again.
I had no idea what I was reading or what was going on for a solid 20% of this book. I almost didn’t make it to the end but I can’t not finish something. Fast forward to the end: yes, it was awful, don’t read it. I should’ve listened to my gut in the beginning. It would seem Blythe had crippling postpartum depression but it’s more than just that.
