Evie Porter and Ryan Sumner live in a small Louisiana town. Evie is trying to get in good with Ryan’s snooty friends. She meets a woman at a party named Lucca Marino who looks eerily similar to her. Not only that, but Lucca Marino is Evie’s real name. *dun dun dun* We find out Evie works for an anonymous person named Mr. Smith and Ryan is actually her “target.”
Ryan inherited his grandfathers trucking company when he passed away. Somewhere along the way this trucking company expanded to brokering stolen goods. Ryan has kept it running and keeps it separate from his main job.
Mr. Smith seemingly wants to take over Ryan’s operation.
There’s a lot of flashbacks and back and forth in general. A little confusing and middle of the road for me. Similar vibes as The Paris Widow.
