After her father dies, Janeway Sharp finds solace in true crime online forums. She befriends members who become her family. They are:
@Mistress = Tammy Jo Frazier
@Goku = Brian Goddins
@Citizen = Peter Bishop
@Searcher = Jane
Once these true crime junkies help solve a murder, they become instant online celebrities. It sounds like Only Murders in the Building.
Another case comes up in Delphine Idaho. 3 college girls are murdered in their dorm. The author does say she based it on the real life University of Idaho murders. The group rushes to solve another high profile case.
Jane tells the story a year later, looking back at the Delphine murders.
Even though the author said she was inspired by the Idaho murders, I didn’t love that aspect. That, plus the whole true crime sleuthing. They seemed like Scooby Doo and the Mystery Gang to me. It was ok but predictable.
