On Halloween night, 27 year old Jet Mason is attacked at her parents house. Her head is basically bashed in and how she survived is a miracle in itself. The doctors say there’s still a tiny piece of bone fragment in her brain. It will cause an aneurysm within a week and kill her instantly. Yikes. The only other option is to have a surgery with a 10% chance of survival. I would think any sane person would choose the surgery, to at least have a chance to survive. But nope, Jet decides to stay alive for a week to find her killer. Because she WILL die. But she’s *Not Quite Dead Yet.* Sigh.
This book had such a unique premise and I was obsessed with it for the first half. I loved the morbid humor but hated peoples stupid secrets which weren’t really that big of a deal. There was also a lot of sentence fragments that drove me nuts. Ex – “had to, no choice” or “legs gave way, too weak.” Oh and don’t forget the best friend turned evil sister in law.
