Mackenzie Casper’s mother is a best selling thriller author. The books she writes are pretty dark and twisted. Her pen name is E.V. Renge. I have to say, this is the most annoying pen name to read. I get that it’s an anagram for “revenge.” But still. Say it, go ahead. Super super annoying to say.

E.V. Renge *insert eye roll* is actually named Elizabeth Dunn-Casper. She dies after falling the wrong way and hitting her head. Mackenzie never felt super close to her mom so she isn’t devastated. She starts receiving letters about her moms past, signed “Love, Mom.” The secrets in the letter shock her. And the letters keep coming. Mackenzie and her best friend EJ start investigating on their own.

So there were some twists and at times I was downright confused. Thank god I take notes for this very reason. The whole revenge plot and pen name EV Renge reminded me of The Mindf*ck Series and ST Abby. The ending was weird and anti climactic.
