Lillie Silva’s prissy husband Brad leaves her for a woman 16 years younger. Already this book is annoying – so cliche. He announces it the night their only child Dylan graduates from high school. And he’s going to college in Montana. I can’t help but feel bad for Lillie. But don’t worry, she brings petty to a whole new level. She knows how bratty Brad insists on being called “Doctor” because he’s a therapist. So she changes his mail from Dr. to Mr., she leaves a stray shrimp in his mansion with new wife, Melissa. She lets a live skunk loose in their house, etc etc etc.
Eventually she gets over it and realizes how much better off she is without her loser husband dragging her down. The book was very long and it felt it. It was a lot of the same stuff – Brad being uppity, Melissa being shallow, Lillie being petty and spiteful. Angel boy son Dylan is almost inhumanly perfect.
