This 2nd book picks up literally right where the first left off. Make sure to read The Risk first! Logan’s female team members get hurt by a serial killer, nicknamed The Boogeyman. Could the name be better? Yes. The Boogeyman carves messages into his victims for Agent Logan Bennett to find. It’s only a matter of time before he goes after Lana, knowing she’s dating Logan. And for some reason, The Boogeyman is targeting Logan Bennett.

Throughout the book, Lana is taunted by her past abuse. And it is horrific. She’s on her own journey to avenge her brother Marcus’ death and the “death” of her previous self. Lana isn’t her real name. We find out the town she grew up in, Delaney Grove, is demented. They shun anything not like them and made Marcus’ life difficult when they knew he was gay. Hadley, a woman on Logan’s team, was abused by The Boogeyman as a child. He was actually her stepfather. So of course, Lana takes it upon herself to make him pay.

In this book the chapters start with Confucius quotes. It was another quick 24 hour read. Again, very well written and the character of Lana is such an amazing badass. But the gruesome and gore is a lot for me.
