Remain

In Cape Cod, Tate Donovan is an architect that was hired to design a mansion for his friends Oscar and Lorena. He’s freshly out of a psychiatric facility after being consumed with depression when his sister Sylvia passed away. Before she died she told Tate that she sees spirits who haven’t passed on.

At his rented house he sees a woman named Wren and feels comfortable to tell her pretty much everything. He eventually finds that she isn’t alive and he is seeing her spirit. She needs help finding out who killed her. He helps her, falls in love, and she moves on. That’s it.

I only read this because there’s a movie coming out based on the book. But this book was more Nicolas Sparks, less M. Night Shayamalan which was disappointing for me. There were no twists, nothing exciting, just a supernatural love story. Boring. Predictable. The only thing I enjoyed was Tate’s loyal best friend Oscar and wife Lorena.
