The Girl in the Lake

30ish years ago Kate, Becca, Mariana, and Lennie were bunkmates at Camp Sauquamet in the Berkshires, Massachusetts. Kate and Becca were inseparable even though Becca could be pretty cruel. One night Becca disappears and her body is never recovered.

In present day, Kate Willis works with people who believe they’ve had past life experiences. She’s called to help 6 year old Henley Haskell. She has vivid recollections of what may be a past life. Kate is forced to return to Massachusetts after all these years to help Henley and maybe help Becca also.

Learning what Henley knows and what people around town know, including old bunkmates, she has to figure out what really happened to Becca so Henley can be free of her.

I found myself struggling to finish this book. Did Kate hate or love Becca? The book had an interesting premise but it got very repetitive and fizzled out for me halfway through.
