In Nantucket, Kayla Montero is a housewife whose husband just accepted a contract to build a $10 million monstrosity. Val is a lawyer, married to one of the least likable men on the island. Antoinette is a divorced loner who doesn’t want any relationships, friendship or otherwise.

Years ago, Kayla met roommates Val and Antoinette. While they don’t have a ton in common, they started going night swimming and telling each other their secrets. Every Labor Day weekend, they reunite for their “Night Swimmers” tradition. The most recent Night Swimmers, Antoinette goes missing while swimming. This sets off a series of events which will bring about more secrets than ever.

I don’t understand why anyone would want to swim in the dark ocean in the middle of the night. I also don’t get why Kayla’s daughters name is “Cassidy B.” Do they live with another Cassidy so they need to distinguish with the ‘B’? weird.
